Attractive pub up a driveway flanked by mature trees in the pretty village of Iffley. Dog leg shaped interior via random extensions. Tidy inside, modern but not too much so; red and mustard colour scheme, laminate wood floor, darts, plenty of prints of Oxford and the local area. Of interest is the rear dining area which features a whole wall mural of the pub and locale. Lunchtime visit found a fair few people in and I had a bit of chat with a stereotype Oxfordian barman. A Wadworth house with three of their casks on the go; Henry's, Horizon and 6X (very good indeed - NBSS 4). A nice all rounder and anywhere that serves me 6X that I am able to mildly enjoy deserves an extra point. Best in the locale by a long way. 7.5

Situated in the picturesque village of Iffley, noted for its church, is the Prince of Wales which I last visited around 20 years ago with my ex and we were treated to a drunken Scotsman holding a farting competition - with himself. He wasn't present the other day, having perhaps disappeared in a gust of wind, presumably of his own making.
Otherwise, we recall a pub that was far more traditional of interior as the current one seems to have been enthusiastically made over such that it resembles a hotel bar: downlighters, a modern bare wood floor, walls painted part burgundy, part off white, a wooden bar top with conventional furniture. In short, it was a bit bland. At least one TV was playing, showing the news, muted. Ambient sound came courtesy of dross playing from the local talk/music radio station.
A Wadsworth's pub, five ales on pump including Horizon at a hefty £2.20 a half and fine. On the food front, fayre flits from fish 'n' chips to Thai, Cajun, Mediterranean...
I think this pub is a bit of a lost opportunity and despite its faults, the Isis Farmhouse over the lock is a better bet.

The Prince of Wales is a village pub set in the picturesque village of Iffley, some two and a bit miles south of Oxford.
Internally it is one open U shaped space around a central serving area with wooden tables and chairs to all sections. Then there is an outside tabled seating area to the front and the side and a nice enclosed courtyard garden section to the back of the pub.
It is a Wadsworths house and the bar supports two sets of five handpumps which had four Wadsworths beers available (6X, Henry's Original IPA, Farmers Glory and Boundary) and one guest (White Gold from the Isle of Wight brewery) and the Henrys and Farmers Glory we tried were well kept.
And the far side of the bar has a decent collection of whisky and rum bottles hung from the bar top by string, which is one way of solving the shelf space issue.
We only utilised the Prince of Wales for a pint whilst staying in a nearby hotel for the weekend, but there is an extensive food menu offered that we cannot comment on, except for saying that the pricing structure seems to lean more towards posh restaurant fare than standard pub grub for those on a budget.
