This attractive half-timbered building is still is pretty upmarket and with character, though a bit lighter and brighter than I recall (was the wood panelling not painted over before?). Anyways, the courtyard entrance leads you to the main door where three if not four rooms have been knocked together. The front spur has the best feel with wood floor, some modern wood panelling and pictures of Henley. Five pumps all operational; 4x Greene King stagers plus Black Sheep. My half of Abbot was in decent shape. It's a fair shout for Henley. 6.5

A pleasantly upmarket Greene King refit pub, which seemed to be attracting the nouveau-riche of Henley on my visit (one of whom looked suspiciously like Bruno Brookes - could it really have been him?). The fair-sized interior is posh tables, pot plants sofas and muzak although (oddly) there was also a quizzer which wanted to pay so I left £10 better off. There's a nice garden too. Beer-wise there was the usual Greene King suspects - Abbot and IPA - but happily a guest too in the form St Austell Tribute; although it was served waaaay to cold. The barman was a nice chap. A paradox pub - although I find it hard to get too excited about the place, I wouldn't mind going back again at some point in the future. Rated 6

Old half-timbered pub on the market place, with entrance through a former coaching arch. There is one long room, laid out with eating tables at the front and a nice wooden bar with some sofas at the rear. What might have been dark wood panelling has been painted cream, which gives a nice bright and comfortable feel. There is also a decked garden area at the rear, and a small car park with access off the main public car park. Beers from the Greene King range with 5 at time of visit including a Belhaven. In good condition - Cask Marque listed. Food not sampled. A respectable town centre pub.
