Fronted with a car park and two covered decked seating areas is Greene King’s Royal Oak. The interior is U shaped and comprises a central bar with seating to the right and left. Also to the left are two pool tables and access to a garden at the rear. Plasma screens are located throughout and Sky Sports was being aired. This was muted in favour of some background music during my fleeting Thursday afternoon visit.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and I counted four hand pumps that were drawing GK IPA, Hook Norton’s Hooky, Wadworth’s 6X and Morland Original. This is a Meet and Eat establishment so food is available, but I didn’t see any menus.
I found the service to be friendly enough, but this pub is a lengthy walk from Didcot Railway Station so I am not expecting to return any time soon.
