Boundary House is an L-shaped Flaming Grill with a central L-shaped bar counter. I counted five handpumps that were drawing TT Landlord, Fuller’s London Glory, GK IPA and two Lilley’s ciders. Standard and premium keg was also available. The left hand side of the pub is more of a dining area so I wasn’t surprised to see a few young families in having their dinner. In the right hand side were some groups of young lads who were watching Europa League football. The service was polite and for a Flaming Grill this was actually quite a good pub. Maybe it was a little more atmospheric than usual due to the World Cup flags up everywhere.

So called as it used to straddle the county boundary between Berkshire and Oxfordshire, this is one of those GK food-led establishments with various meal deals and whatnot. A good 15-minute walk out of the town centre, this is generous size inside with a rough L-shape - the bar occupying the crook of the L. A sea of tables and chairs throughout, there is a raised section far left, and a games area to the right and beyond the bar with two dartboards and a pool table. Several TVs showed a football match on mute, and there was a low hum of background muzak. Ales all from the GK camp as you'd expect - GK IPA, Morland Original, Gangly Ghoul, Starry Night and Robinson's Iron Maiden-themed Trooper. The Starry Night was in good form and good value at £1.60 for a half. It won't win any awards, but it was busy, so it's ticking enough boxes, and in terms of ticking, it's definitely not the worst pub on the Abingdon hitlist.
