Blue Scrumpy left this review about Grey Horses Inn

The village of Carlton in Lindrick is easily reached by the number 21 or 22 bus from Worksop. One of 3 pubs in the village. The other 2 are on the main road. The Grey Horses is tucked away down a side road. We sat in the front bar, where there were a group of 4 or 5 people already in, along with a dog. There is a larger lounge to the rear, which we didn't explore. I couldn't tell if there were any other customers in there.

4 real ales were on, 1 of which wasn't listed on the blackboard adjacent to the bar. The selection was Three Brothers Au, Welbeck Abbey Red Feather & Skylight & Theakston Old Peculier. I tried both the Au and the Skylight and found them as befits a Good Beer Guide entry. There was no real cider. Neither was there any sign of food being served. Although perhaps the lounge was more suited to diners. There was however a reasonable snack selection.

Will Larter left this review about Grey Horses Inn

The present landlord has an arrangement with the Welbeck Abbey brewery so that this is effectively the brewery tap, always featuring at least two of their beers, including a house beer brewed specially for him, Carlton Knights, which is a bit heavy on the tropical fruit hop notes for my taste. I also tried one of the two Lincoln Green ales available at the time of my visit; this was Hood, the other from that brewery being Marion. There's also a real cider available on hand pump from Scrumpy Wasp cider press, which means that all the drinks are sourced from Nottinghamshire.

This is a good old-fashioned village pub, in the old part of the village that has been by-passed by the modern main road. The front room, accessed from the door set in the corner, is the tap room: a plain room with a large solid fuel stove in the fireplace. I was the only person there at the time of my mid-afternoon midweek visit, but I was assured it's very popular with the locals. The larger lounge to the rear is accessed by a different door in the side wall.

This is a destination pub, reachable by a frequent bus service from either Worksop to the south or Doncaster to the north. I'm sure I'll be back.

This pub is really good for kids as well as adults because there is a beer garden where they can play together and the current owners, Sally and Chris Redzia, have two children, Amy and Billy Redzia who, if they are allowed and want to, will play with you too.
