Will Larter left this review about The Midland

This was a disappointment, as I knew that this was a pub that Alan went to a lot - his brother mentioned that he lived just a few doors away; unfortunately there was no real ale on at the time of our visit, with a Doom Bar clip reversed to indicate what we were missing. In addition, the place seemed soulless and totally devoid of character. I went for a lager, but was unable to finish it, as it was cold, fizzy and pretty disgusting. Do people really drink San Miguel with pleasure? It's hard to imagine.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Midland

The Midland is a solid looking pub that is situated at the west end of Stapleford.
This pub was originally a multi roomed Shipstones tied house with a really nice drink of Shipstone Bitter and Mild on the bar.

The pub was completely altered in the early 90s and remained like that untill the late summer of 2014 when the pub closed for about 6 weeks for a large refurbishment which was reported to have cost around £300,000.

Once inside the pub has been completly altered except the bar which is still to the left on entry from the front door, there is some comfy bench seating to the front left, there are tall tables and stools in the middle area, the raised area to the front right has been opened out and now has a pool table, the rear right is now also slightly raised and has comfortable bench seating, there are now loads of TV around the pub so where ever you sit you can see the football.
There are three pumps on the bar,on each occasion we have been in since it had been done up there has been Castle Rock Harvest Pale on which was a very nice drink, plus Bass and Doom Bar.
The pub now gets very busy at weekends with a lots of different entertainments.
Me and the wife quite like coming in this nice refurbished pub that is now very livley.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Midland

Large but basic pub with various seating areas. Customers a mix of those in work clothing and people on a Friday evening out. Entertainment in the form of a singer. One of two handpumps in operation, dispensing a surprisingly good pint of Doom Bar (£2.50). To let.
