The March Hair on Carlton hill is a long standing roadside estate type pub in an area were there used to be loads of pubs. The outside is very ugly in a 50’s/60’s style and does not look that appealing. Inside there are two rooms a large square shaped bar room to the back and a smaller square lounge to the right as you enter Unfortunately the lounge was not open on my visit and was closed off and in darkness and it seems like this is only ever open at busier times/weekends. The main bar room is all hard floored with a central pool table and old tattered bench seating around the outside with the bar running half way across the right hand side. The decor was very minimal and what there was very old and looks like it has been around since the pub opened. Sadly there was no real ale and only the usual keg options so I Had a pint of Chestnut mild for £3 which is a little more than this beer usually goes for in these sort of pubs but it was kept ok and drinkable. The barman was very chatty and seemed proud of the beer he served and spoke about how his cellar was behind the bar and that he uses two pint lines meaning his beer is fresh. He also stated that he is particularly proud of the shape of his Guinness and that that was his biggest seller which is nice to see compared to the usual cooking lager. Although the pub itself was not too appealing the bar man made us welcome and I wouldn’t mind popping in again for a quick Guinness ton see if it’s all its hyped up to be. Standard estate pub really but not as bad as a few of the other keg only dives around Sneinton.

The March Hare is an estate type looking pub that looks like it was built in the 60s but it is on the very busy carlton road,it was also very close to the now demolished Red Cow.
This pub was a John Smiths tied house and it did have real ales on the bar in the late 80s in the form of John Smiths handpumped bitter and this was a very nice drink.
The pub had two rooms and both were quite comfortable.
This pub is still up and running but i am not sure what beers it now has on the bar.
