The Clock is to my knowledge the very last pub still open in Hyson green. located just off bobbersmill road after the turning with the Old general on the corner of Radford Road up a side street. This pub is by no means a tourist pub and is located in an area that many people would not want tom venture to. The pub gets its name from the large clock on the front of the pub, before being called the wheeltappers and the Avenue hotel many ears before even that.

My late grandfather being from Radford used to frequent in this pub before being called up in WWII so I decided to make the journey to see what is was like today. From the outside things look really promising, the brickwork and features are all in very good order and the unusual shape is a nice addition. once inside things change and the decor is very dated and in a sate of disrepair. some things have been altered which is a good sign with brand new spotless toilets and new bar seats. the pub does retain a lot of its original features which with a bit of care could be a really good attraction.

Unsurprisingly there were no real ales available, just one pump not in use that I suspect has been like that for some time. this left me the choice of John Smiths or Mann's chestnut mild, I opted for the mild for a very cheap price (cant quite remember what) and this was a fairly ok drink to be honest.

Walking into this pub it has a VERY locals atmosphere, if you are not a regular expect some attention. This is a very rough and ready pub that was quite quiet on my visit but the seven or eight inn were not shy about inuring who we were. Once they had a few words with us they settled down and continued their conversation. Very bad language was thrown around frequently.

Although not a great pub I would always like to see places like this continue, especially in areas like Hyson Green were there are now almost no pubs, Places like this build and are at the heart of communities.

The Clock is a very large victorian corner pub situated in the back streets of hyson green.
Once inside there were a few different rooms and we had a drink in a decent comfortable lounge, when we visited this pub it was a Shipstones tied house and there were two real ales on the bar we had a drink of Shipstones bitter and this was a decent drink the other beer was Shipstones mild.
I think this pub is still open but i am not sure what beers are now on here.
