. Wittenden left this review about Wheatsheaf Inn

An attractive yellow washed stone built pub in a farming village close to the A1, opposite a church with a remarkably leaning steeple :why travel all the way to Pisa?
Our visit was on a Sunday lunchtime in mid February, when we had arranged to meet some family members: nine of us sat at a long table in a dining area which had probably been converted from a pub outhouse or barn. Entering the pub through the front door one sees the bar slightly to one’s right:to the left a more public bar style area. A few comfy chairs by the bar.
We were pleased to see a healthy mix of diners and drinkers when we arrived. As well as beers from the regionals,I enjoyed a glass of Copthorne Gold from not far up the road and Bateman’s XB, a beer I hadn’t had for ages.
This looks to be a proper pub, one that both takes food and drink seriously, and maintains its place as a community hub.
