Now owned by a Community Benefit Society, and it looks very smart, with new paintwork, floors, furniture, you name it. I got the impression that the community has benefited from a pretty large hand out (with strings attached) from Castle Rock brewery, judging by the beer offering: there are five hand pumps with all but one from Castle Rock (Harvest Pale doubled, and the solitary guest was Timothy Taylor Landlord); the "craft" kegs (listed on a board propped in the window) are also all Castle Rock, though there are some mainstream keg beers and a cider too. This is not meant as a criticism - they've got to get some money for an expensive refurb like this from somewhere - and I was impressed by the quality of the Landlord: authentically bitter aftertaste, which I haven't come across very much elsewhere in the last decade or two, so they must be doing something right. Less impressed with the dreadful background music, but apart from that this is a pretty good pub. It's handily placed by the traffic lights in the centre of the village, and there's a car park for those making a last minute decision in favour of a stop. Like I did - except I just propped my bike in the small space in front; hope no one minded.

The Royal Oak is a decent looking pub that is situated on the crossroads in the centre of Collingham.
Once inside this pub had a few different rooms,i went in the bar which was at the front, this was a a nice enough room that was carpeted and had bench seating with small tables and stools, there was also a pool table and TV in this room, there was a seperate lounge to the rear and also a seperate dining room.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of John Smiths cask and this was a nice well kept pint the other beer was Pedigree.
There were a few locals in and i thought this was quite a nice pub.
