A pleasant enough little old pub with beams and fishing stuff, well suited to its tourist trade. In fact it could be in any similar old seaside town. Hadrian Farne Island and Northumbrian Gold were on handpump in fair condition. There is a nice garden at the rear.

Old Boots left this review about The Ship

Stone built terraced cottage pub, two rooms although both are used for eating the lower one to the right is set out as a dining room. There’s bench seating at Britannias with wooden stools. The counter is in the rear left corner sporting three pumps with decently kept Hadrian Border beers plus two T-Bars of usual national kegs. Decor is largely nautical but there are some paintings and prints of the locality from the artist’s studio over the road and some old black and white photos. The toilets are labelled Buoys and Gulls, other daft signs can be spotted. Gin is produced in a shed at the bottom of the garden apparently. I think the governor might have had enough of tourists for the season when we called in.

Can never go wrong with a ship inn!

Traditional terrace pub. Wooden floored bar area with classic pub furniture and bar at far end.

Nice garden, which appears to be having a new building created in it.

Lovely staff.

Allendale Pennine Pale Ale in fine condition.
