Splendid locals pub off the main road through the village, it does have a brown sign. GBG 2024 listed. A single bar at the front with a smaller discreet dining room behind. Five pulls and two low T-bars as drinking choice, the casks are all fairly local and in good order. Nice and traditional inside with banquette seating round the walls, round and rectangular wooden tables and stools, tongue and groove with white wallpaper above. Decorated with a variety of photographs and paintings, there’s a big screen at one end and WhatPub directs us to the rare brewery mirror at the other end.

This is a gem and a difficult one to leave. We sat at the bar in the front room, chatting away to the owner and a couple of locals. The main subject was all about beer, so I was in my element. There were six handpumps all in operation, the owner was very passionate about his Tempest Brewery beers from Kelso. I went for the Tempest Armadillo at 3.8% which had bags of flavour, I then tried the Tempest White Cloud at 5.6% which was amazing. There was also a Alnwick Ipa, which didn't quite have that IPA taste, but still it was in peak condition.
They also serve food here and we noticed a good few people booking tables in advance. The owner has been here for nine years.

Caught 501 bus from Seahouses to visit this 2010 Good Beer Guide pub in Embleton. Friendly staff and 3 great beers on. Enjoyed Hadrian & Border Farne Islands, Jarrow JB, and Black Sheep Riggwelter. They know their beers here, and will chat about them with you. Patio garden is downstairs at the back. Another room set for dining.
