This is now Spice Lounge, an Indian restaurant. I thought I'd drop in as it was still listed on the site, but probably needn't have if I'd checked WhatPub beforehand. You can have a bottle of Indian lager while you wait for a takeaway, but this isn't a place you can pitch up with your Camra buddies solely for a beer.

A double fronted old pub on the outskirts of the town centre, it still retains its old Manns pub sign. Opening the tatty 1960s plain internal door leads to an inside that has been opened out to one large L shaped room in Brewers Tudor style. The bar counter runs down the right with a gallery above holding nick-nacks and china mugs. There's a raised area at the back housing a pool table, the front section has a large collection of plates. It's carpeted through out and there's a bit of a stale smell. The bar staff were particularly pleasant and there was a good mix of punters when I dropped in. The usual keggy stuff plus a single handpump purporting to sell Greene King IPA at a bargain £2 a pint, I thought at first I had been given cider by mistake, sadly not.
