A formerly more basic village pub now tastefully made-over with dark wood, cream walls, modern chairs and traditional tables. The main lounge bar styled bar has three pulls with local beers from Copper Dragon and Theakstons. Behind is a more formal restaurant and there is a pleasant patio area to the side. Service is restaurant style as well although the staff are very solicitous, asking customers if they are all right there or if they are OK. Beer quality was fine if a bit short, the barman didn't actually hang about to see if a top-up was required. A complete contrast to the dodgy village pub it used to be.

An isolated pub on a quiet road from a quiet village to other quiet villages on the Vale of York, not much happens round here. The pub itself consists of two bars, a lounge at the back and a larger bar with three areas at the front. The three spartanly decorated areas are home to a pool table, a few tables and chairs and a vertical drinking area with dart board, all the areas have screens and there is a games machine and some sweet vending machines by the pool table. Two handpumps in the bar and three in the lounge dispense John Smiths Cask and guests, York Guzzler and Moorhouses among them. The usual keg suspects are also available of course. An exclusively masculine customer base when I dropped in on what should have been a quiet evening but the place was fairly busy. A reasonable if basic village pub very handy for those living in the static caravans behind the pub or those living too far from the village proper to use the village's other pub.
