A nice little traditional sidestreet pub, which clearly once had two rooms and is still carpeted one side and boarded the other. One where the locals are greeted by name and their drinks poured without asking. On pump were TT Landlord, Wainwright, Tetley Cask and Doom Bar and condition seemed good, despite other pubs in the locality being unable to keep one ale on. Enjoy it before it gets modernised.

Community pub in the 2013 Good Beer Guide. They had Tetley, Taylor Landlord, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and another, Black Sheep I think on so we chose the Golden Pippin and Landlord which were fine. I loved wandering round the pub chuckling at the saucy seaside postcards, loads of them in frames of 6 upwards adorning the walls. It was like going back in time when we were allowed to have a laugh without worrying about upsetting anyone's morals. Would have loved a day here to go round and see them all.

We've visited this pub on several occasions before, but we had a strange visit a couple of weeks ago. There's a horseshoe shaped bar and lots of bench seating around the walls, most of which is so narrow it's hard to sit on. It's very much a locals local. A couple of cask ales on the bar, including a decent pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippen. The red wine is in small bottles, but it's Jack Rabbit which suits the other half down to the ground. They have a large sign which says that children are not welcome at any time. When we called in there was a birthday party on and the place was full of kids!! Poor visit this time round, but we'll probably call again as it's not usually this bad.
