A very foody pub these days, presumably a more profitable market than the previous real ale venture. We entered from the car park where there's a token bench table for outdoor drinking. Once inside, a pleasant young lady directed us to the bar, which is towards the front. We were dressed for cycling, not dining, and just wanted a quick half to slake our thirst. On the bar were two hand pumps serving Sharps Doom Bar and Caledonian Flying Scotsman. The barman or manager who served us was not terribly impressed by our order, or maybe our clothes, and we quickly made our way back to the outside table to enjoy our drinks. Flying Scotsman is the best of the Caledonian portfolio, in my opinion, but this one was not in the best of nick. Although I'm a fan of malty beers, it seems strange to have two such on at the same time. But if you're making loads of money from a pub packed full of Sunday diners, who cares about beer?

A 4 real ale pub. Pottons Shannon, London Pride, Elgoods, Tom Woods, and others alternate; Woodefords Wherry, Cambridge, JHB, Buntingsford, and many more. Great food - the chef-co-owner is a fanatical and passionate chef. Award winning stuff.
very good wine selection surprisingly nicely priced. Big restaurant overlooking large grassy garden with great fenced kids safe playground. Big car park. The pub is on the edge of Millennium Green an open park beyond which is the banks of the river Ouse and its many waterways. Plent of walks around here-south to the Paxton Pits or on to St Neots (4 miles) or north to Godmanchester and historic Huntingdon. (3 miles). Only 1.5 miles from the A1 at Buckden. 12 miles from St Ives. 20 from Cambridge.
