A longish walk from our previous pub, the Kings Head, we passed several others on the way, leaving me the impression that this one would have to be pretty special. Perhaps this set me up for a slight disappointment. The four beers on offer were all from different local microbreweries, none of them Redwell, so I assume they are no longer associated with the pub.

This street corner Victorian pub has been opened out from its original layout as can be seen from the different tiles on the floor. Now with a large modern bar counter at the rear, with hooks, and a real fire, this was a pleasant enough pitstop on the way to the Duke of Wellington. On another occasion, I might be tempted instead by the Whalebone.

An imposing Victorian pub the north Norwich suburbs.
Inside is modern and open plan, although not jarringly so.
Upstairs are four letting rooms and food is available from Thursday to Sunday. I visited on a Wednesday so didn't see a menu but the locals were praising the chef as being very good.
The pub is owned by the local Redwell brewery who, I heard, have just begun hosting open evenings at their brewery just outside the city centre.
On tap were: Redwell Extra Pale Ale, Bad Seed Session IPA, Dark Star Creme Brulee and Hophead and Electric Bear Red Bear. Everything I tried here was very good, especially the Extra Pale Ale and if that's anything to go by then perhaps Redwell ought to offer more of their range here.
The bar staff here are tremendous, friendly with the locals, knowledgeable on beer, charming and humourous. The locals are also a friendly bunch and it all made for a very good atmosphere accompanied by good beer.
Well worth the journey from the City Centre.

The Lord Roseberry is a large victorian pub that is on a fairly quiet residential street.
Once inside there is a large L shaped room with the bar facing, the room is carpeted and had normal tables and chairs, there was a dining area to the right, there was some music playing which which i thought was pretty rubbish.
There were four real ales on the bar i had a drink of Wolf Wolf in Sheeps Clothing and this was a really nice drink the other beers were Woodforde's Sundew / Once Bittern and Hopback Summer Lightening.
Despite the crap music there was a nice laid back atmosphere in this pub and i quite liked my time in here.
