After a run of below-par pubs this one was approached with trepidation but fortunately really delivered. Despite its unprepossessing location it looks well-maintained from the outside, replete with original old coach arch and a large mural of a castle too. Inside is a local which feels like it was refurbished in the early 90s and has been looked after ever since; lightly coloured ceiling beams, pub carpet, undressed stone and brick walls and two interesting two arched inlets by the fire. There’s a nice raised area to the right where we parked ourselves. Five ales on, all gravity (I winced – usually gravity in a warm pub = trouble) 2x GK, 2x Woodfordes and a Wolf brewery beer. My Woodfordes Bure Gold was quite palatable (NBSS 3.5) and an unscheduled joker of the Woodfordes Nelson was also decent (3). Topped-off by decent music and a buzzing convivial atmosphere within. A rare stand-out on my long weekend in Norwich which wasn’t a Fattus Cattus outlet. Make an appointment with this one. 8.5

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Coachmakers Arms

Nice old pub, opened out inside to form a 'T'-shape layout with various seating areas (including part which is located up a couple of steps). Traditional furniture and decor. Eight clips on four handpumps, but all beers appear to be dispensed direct from the stillage. Three Woodfordes ales available, plus a range of others including Wolf Golden Jackal (£3.00). Well worth seeking out.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Coachmakers Arms

This pub is well worth a visit, especially when they serve eight ales on gravity, the majority of which were from Norfolk breweries. The bar is situated on the left as you enter and there was a raised seating area on the right with an open log fire. There was lots of original timberwork to be seen and undressed walls, displaying the flint walls and handmade bricks. Upstairs there was a room with a sloping floor, bare brick chimney breast and more beams. This was mainly used for hosting small functions and events. Enjoyed the Woodfordes Mardler's Mild, plus a few from Wolf Brewery.
