My first visit to this Chalk Hills Brewery pub since I started writing reviews for Pubs Galore, though I had certainly been here before with Luton Town friends before at least one game at Carrow Road, though memories are a little hazy. 2005? Quite possibly. My first visit here when it has not been rammed by football fans anyway. First impression was not good as I approached the bar trying to make out the pump clips, as is my usual habit, and was told rather brusquely by the barman to look at the beer list on the black board. Which was on a beam above my head. I suppose this makes sense if the floor is crammed with pre- or post-match drinkers, but at a quiet time of week a more personal touch would have gone down well. There were anyway three lots of three hand pumps, and since all the pump clips are in a kind of code (a bit like railway stations: SHF for Sheffield is obvious, and DBY for Derby, but why is MHS Meadowhall?), it's not easy for a newcomer. I went for CHB, which of course was Chalk Hills Bitter, and very good it was too (NBSS 3.5). I'd be interested in doing this one again, to get better aquainted with the beer code as much as anything, and it is handy for the station (NRW, of course).

Steve C left this review about Coach & Horses

Set back from the passing road, the Coach & Horses has rows of covered picnic tables out the front, so it’s not the most attractive place to gaze upon. Inside, there is pew type seating in the front windows either side of the entrance and up the left are some high table and stools that run to an open plan seating area at the rear. On the left-hand wall is a dartboard and televisions are found throughout. Norwich were getting hammered by Boro so the atmosphere wasn’t exactly electric, but it was very busy. This is a Chalk Hill Brewery pub so six off there cask options were available, Tap, CHB, Gold, Ruby, Black Anna and Cask-Ade. Redemption Brewing’s Big Chief was the cask guest and craft keg was also available. I though it was OK in here, it was certainly very handy as my hotel was over the road. Worth popping into if making the walk east to the Fat Cat & Canary.
