I was reading in the Norfolk Nips (the local CAMRA magazine) that this is the local CAMRA branch's pub of the year. So, I was looking forward to a visit here and timed my arrival to ensure it was before the rather early 8pm published closing time on a Sunday. We arrived at 7:15pm to find a barmaid closing up. She said she couldn't serve us as she'd switched the tills off. Apparently they'd been quiet all day long and it wasn't worth staying open.
I'm surprised CAMRA are commending a pub with limited and suspect opening hours. But hopefully I'll make another trip to the area one day and will be able to decide for myself. For now, my score will counter the landlord's own 10/10, as the pub was simply not open at its advertised times.

We opened this pub as 'The Cock' in January 2020 - not the best year to open a pub as it turned out, however with a focus on real ale and live music (mainly blues) we've done well and built up an excellent local. We added a flat next door to provide accommodation for up to 6, and opened up the outside area to provide seating outside during the summer. Of course we rate ourselves as a 10! but happy for others to rate us too. Our web site is at www.the-cock.co.uk and you can also find us in Facebook.
