Called in for a very swift half,Several areas wrapped around a central island bar, food seemed to be a major thrust and indeed the four handpumps dispensing variants from the Fullers stable all had little twee chalkboards hanging over them with food matching details, what a load of bo***cks, its Fullers! However it was reasonably well attended on a Thursday lunchtime, and the beer was ok.
It maybe a lively place on a rugby weekend but I found it to be a little poncey given its surroundings, worth a pint if you're passing by though.

Normally I utilise the pubs by the river in Twickenham on match days, but having to get away to the west pronto after yesterdays Aviva Premiership season start double header I visited here for the first time yesterday for a couple of pre match pints, as a couple of colleagues had pointed it out as a solid Fullers pub on this side of the ground.
Match days is never the best time to get a feel for a pub, but I saw enough yesterday to concur with their view. Decent multi area with a traditional pub decor as well described by Rex below, couple of largeish screens for the sport and an extensive Fullers range available, although I couldn’t see it all, due to the scrum (sic) at the bar. The pints of Pride and ESB our group had were on good form, and despite the pressure, service was fairly efficient.

This is a Fuller’s pub with just about the full range on, including the excellent Bengal Lancer, but I didn’t see a Discovery pump. The Chiswick tasted very good, and was well under the £3 a pint mark. The pub occupies a big corner site, but now with a single island bar with inter-connected drinking areas (which would have been completely separate and unconnected rooms in years gone by) wrapped around it. It’s mostly bare-boarded, although the Lady Hamilton room is carpeted, with normal tables and chairs. There were quite a number of those solid and chunky high tables and chairs in several areas of the pub. There is some decent wood panelling, which looked like the result of an inter-war fitting to me, but unfortunately it had been painted black in the Lady Hamilton room. There is a fair amount of memorabilia around the pub – mainly rugby related, although there is a fair bit of Nelson and maritime based stuff, including a rather splendid model of HMS Victory in the Lady Hamilton room. The usual one-armed bandits and TVs (but switched off during my lunchtime visit) were present, and the usual pop music was being played.
The lunch menu featured typical pub fare at reasonable prices, although the sandwich I had (for £4.25) wasn’t brilliant. The pub itself is not really worth going out of your way to visit, but is a decent enough functional pub to stop off for a pint if you happen to find yourself in Whitton.
