"The 3 Horseshoes" in Laleham Village, is the best pub for miles, around these parts! The food is excellent, dare I say the best food you will get in any pub anywhere...!! (Unless you know better..!)? We love the "UUU" but it WILL be busy on a Friday night, or weekends. If there's more than 2 of you, you may find it difficult finding seats (unless you've pre-booked a meal, which is wise). They don't serve 'Doom Bar' here anymore; London Pride or Seafarers (3.5%) were on tap the other day. And if you like lager, 'Frontier' is a particularly decent lager to savour. Also, they had a German pilsner 'Veltins' which I found went down rather nicely..! (..too nicely, Mrs TJ commented!) They also serve a rather decent white New Zealand wine, 'Wairau River' sauv/blanc. It's pricey, more than the French s/b or the Chilean, but you don't half notice the difference. And well worth it for the special celebration/occasion. You may find the pictures dotted around the pub quite interesting, if you're into old films, or black/white photography, etc. I expect some of the artwork is from, or inspired by the local film studio at Shepperton. I guess you must get the odd visitor or two from the studios, being the nearest pub. I do like the 3 Horseyhoofs. :o) TJ

I reckon this pub must have improved a bit since Quinno visited, or maybe I was in on a good day. It’s still a gastropub with the emphasis firmly on food. There’s no pub grub here. The tomatoes are “sunblushed”, whatever that means. Anyway, I went for a steak ciabatta sandwich and a few chips – the steak was fairly thin, but good quality with no fat or gristle, tasted delicious, but at a gastropub price of £7.25. There were three ales on; Hogsback TEA, Doom Bar, and Ringwood Best.
Inside there is a little area to the left containing sofas and a low table of course, a handful of normal tables and chairs which I guess can be used by those only drinking, but by far the majority of tables in rooms to the right and back of the pub are all set for diners. Walls are pastel shades with no decor that I can recall, and the floors mainly bare-boarded except for a small intimate area in one of the bays by a window, containing just four tables and chairs, that is carpeted. There is a nice garden at the back, with a paved area containing several tables and chairs where smoking is not permitted, and a grassed area containing some picnic benches which is the only area where smoking is allowed.
There were no obvious locals in just for a drink. Just about everybody in there was eating, and looked as if they had made it a destination pub for that purpose. The place was doing a roaring trade on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, and it’s clear that their business model is working. The staff were friendly, chirpy – and honest. Repairing to the garden after lunch, one of the girls came out there to find me to return a tenner that I had dropped by our table. Now I don’t usually leave tips in pubs, but I had left one on the table on this occasion. There must be a moral there somewhere. Anyway, although this is a gastropub, in my view it is a good one, based on one visit. The beer was good, as was the food, if not cheap. I’d visit again.

A gastropub that has ideas way above its station. On my visit it was slow service, miserable-looking staff and poor beer, which is a shame as the garden and conservatory look nice. Token point for the fishtank.
