There was no real ale on during my visit – there were three handpumps; two with clips reversed and the third apparently unused. Furnishings are red faux velvet upholstered banquettes, and normal tables and chairs. There’s a pool room on the right that also has a large TV screen set in the wall. The main bar area on the left is carpeted and has another TV on the wall above the fireplace, showing (but thankfully muted) some dog training programme. There was no music being played, and the only sounds were the welcome fans whirring away on a warm day, and the sound of pool balls striking each other coupled with the excited shouted encouragement of the two players. The walls are painted yellow, but were otherwise adorned. Ciggy, cash, and games machines, plus the inevitable one-armed bandit, were all present.
I thought that this pub was fairly soulless and uninspiring, and I don’t expect to be visiting again.

This is a nice sized pub that has plasma screens throughout, but these were all off during my weekday afternoon visit and some old chart music playing in the background. There is a pool table and a dartboard which is used on Fridays for the ‘darts for dinner’ nights – not sure what this is, but I’d imagine it is some kind of meat run. Bingo is every Thursday night and there were advertisements indicating that Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor is doing an exhibition night here on Wednesday 14th November.

One of the three hand pumps in the pub was unused and the Landlord was off which left only Greene King IPA which, believe it or not, is a rare sight in these parts as this was the only pub I found with any hint of real ale. I decided to have the Guinness from the standard draught range and found it to be very nicely poured by a friendly barman. There was a surprisingly large amount of alcopops behind the bar so I think that the live music at the weekends could be aimed at a younger crowd, but I may be wrong.

This is a decent pub for the area and I would return if passing again, which is highly unlikely.
