This pub was a bit better than I expected. It's an ex 'spoons, and looks very much like a conversion of some kind. I dropped in here because they advertised food, when the previous couple of pubs that I had been in didn't offer any on Saturday afternoon. And the food was very reasonably priced. There were three specials of the day available - including ham, egg and chips - for £4.50. I went for the more exotic pulled pork on ciabatta with chips, which was excellent value for £4.50. It came on a wooden block for some reason, which would normally put a fiver on the price judging what other places charge when they serve food on things other than plates. The ale selection isn't exciting, with just London Pride and Doom Bar on. But my pint of Pride was in good nick, and reasonably priced at £3.20 a pint.

Apparently being a conversion there isn't much of what I would call pub character in here. It all looks very new, including the modern stained glass windows and stained glass ceiling (!!). But the furnishings are comfortable, being normal tables and chairs, although there are two or three games/fruit machines lurking alongside the walls. There's a bit of outside seating at the back, presumably for the benefit of smokers. Live music is advertised, and there were a couple of TVs on showing the Sky Sports football preview programme - with the sound on and no pop music in competition! I also saw a sign that said all the World Cup games will be shown, presumably on the pull-down screen at the front near the windows.

This is a fairly ordinary, but very functional bar. Although the ale choice isn't exciting, it does at least do a couple of real ales. It also does some tasty and reasonably priced food when I was in need of sustenance having for some reason left home without my emergency rations of pork pies and mustard. But it's unlikely that I'll be this way again for some time, so probably won't be visiting again.
