This is a shop conversion Irish bar of the traditional kind. It’s bare boarded, with (ripped in places) fixed bench seating, small stools and normal tables and chairs. There were two TVs on showing the racing, and some framed signed sports shirts on the wood panelled walls. Also there was something said to be the Hurler’s Prayer in Gaelic script, and a Gaelic greeting behind the bar.
There’s no real ale of course, but a half of Guinness was a very reasonable £1.70. There was no sign of food at early doors on Thursday. In fact I was the only customer in there for the half hour or so I was there. This is what looks like a standard shop conversion Irish bar.

I agree with pretty much all of what the previous reviewer said.
I live locally and regularly use this at weekend mornings/lunchtimes and it's a clean, friendly little bar with excellent staff and very reasonable prices. Just the sort of place to while away a few hours with a pint or several.
Okay, not the sort of place you'd travel miles out of your way to visit, but as a local I'm very glad it's there!

This small Irish shop converted bar was called Emeralds up to a few weeks ago and before my visit last week I hadn’t been in for over ten years. Apart from a lick of paint and some new furniture it is pretty much how I remember with a couple of plasma screens, jukebox and fruit machine. Sky Sports news was being aired during both of my lunchtime visits and although I didn’t spot any signs for Sky Sports I would be very surprised if they didn’t show the football. The décor is very minimal and the only Irish Paraphernalia present is some small flags around the bar area.
The staff are very friendly and on Thursday some free chips appeared for the local office staff who seem to use this place regularly. Unsurprisingly there are no hand pumps, but there is a good range of standard draught products and the Guinness is very good.
This is a decent little bar that I would use frequently if I lived in the area.
