I'm not far from here as the crow flies across the Low Weald, but I hadn't visited for over thirty years. As described, it has been opened out,but not in a way as to make it uncomfortable or echo-ey.
Open fires, beams and exposed woodwork, round headed 'Dering Windows' a speciality of the area.A couple of cask beers on:Gadds' No5 and Young's Bitter. The Gadds' was fine.
Some references to ghosts and Darling Buds, but not too many.

Fine old village inn, claiming to be the 'most haunted pub in Kent'. Partly opened out at some stage to leave a 'L'-shaped arrangement of three seating / dining areas - all as traditional as you would hope to find in these parts. Also has a very pleasant beer garden to the side. Ale-wise, I found the ubiquitous Harvey's (£3.90) and Pride from two of three handpumps.

Called in for Sunday lunch. Excellent food, but disappointing ale selection. I think my review of two years ago still stands.

2008

A good place for a pint, and if the weather was better the beer garden would be a smashing place to sit.
But in all honesty (and in no way running the place down at all) there's nothing about the place that puts it above the local competition. It's a good pub in an area of good pubs.
