A nice looking pub in Brewers Tudor style, and featuring in Camra's list of historic pub interiors of regional importance. It has an island bar with a room either side, the lounge bar opening off the lobby or passage, and the public bar (which has been modernised) through a door to the left. Although there is a solitary hand pump with a Doom Bar pump clip, there was no beer available because of a problem with gas that affected all the beers apart from lager, or so I was told. I made do with a Jameson whiskey - I wasn't going to turn around and leave without a drink after coming this far. It was interesting to see this pub, but I can't see me making a return visit any time.
