Visited it again in April 2022 first since Oct 2020....very disappointed, the atmosphere particularly the attitude of the staff is very "Sterile" and rather cold.....I do not know what has happened during and since lockdown..

A nice, if generic, eatery pub. There are 2 floors to the pub with an upstairs area I never ventured in. The ground floor is open plan and has been modernised. Lots of tellies to watch horses fall or footy teams get beat. 5 handpumps on the bar but only 2 on dispensing GK IPA and their own branded beer. More bright than its neighbour The Crown but it doesn't have the traditional pub feel.

If you want a lively pub at a weekend and a place for a quiet drink during the week, you could pick no better place than The Standard. The staff are friendly and the drinks and food available cover a wide range of tastes, Plus its a 10 minute walk from West Derby Village where there are 4 other pubs to try out and rate against The Standard if you feel you have too.....I suggest you sit tight and save the shoe leather
