Steve C left this review about The Millgate

The Millgate is a large JW Lees pub with raised seating to the left of the entrance and a pool table with high tables to the right. Seating runs up the left and an L-shaped bar counter runs up the right opposite. At the end of the counter is a food serving counter and the rear of the pub is a restaurant. There’s also a very large function room to the right of the pub.
It was empty except for a group of young lads who were playing pool, Monday being pool league night in Failsworth. There was some background music playing, I think a jukebox must hang on a wall somewhere. JW Lees MPA, Bitter and Their Boilerhouse range’s Fallen Again were available from the three hand pumps. The barmaid was friendly, but it took a while for here to realise I wanted to be served, maybe because I was standing on my own at the bar in an empty pub with no drink having not been previously served by the lone barperson. I don’t plan to revisit as this pub is too food led, and a bit boring.

One of your best bets for real ale in this part of Failsworth. Sadly its a modern servery family dull style pub. The beers are JW Lees stuff with MPA, Kaleidoscope, MCR Fold and JW Bitter on today. Its a clean and tidy place but sadly, bland.

A very 60's looking Lees pub which is very modern inside. It looks like it's had a refurbishment fairly recently. Very food orientated with the whole of the room to the left set up for dining and a carvery restaurant at the rear. There's a smaller room to the right with a pool table. The lounge has some awfull wallpaper which is trying to look like a bookshelf. Buy a bookshelf rather than have crap wallpaper would be my advice. There are also lots of celebrity framed photos on the walls. There's a large beer garden with lots of kids stuff in it and a large car park. 4 handpumps on the bar serving Lees Bitter on 2 of them plus Lees MPA and 100 on the other two. The 100 was a decent pint which was £2.70, which is quite reasonable. Much too foody for my liking, but there were quite a few drinkers in on my Friday, late afternoon visit.
