Approaching the Jolly Carter I walked beside an extension that houses a dining area that adjoins the left side of the original pub. The light were out during my Monday evening visit, but I noted an advertisement for a function room, which I imagine is this dining room. Inside the original pub there is a bar to the right that supports standard keg range alongside San Miguel. I didn’t spot any real ale, and I looked twice. To the right of the bar is a pool table and a large television was switched off, but there was some background music playing. A hearth to the left separates the bar and dining areas.
Out the back are a few picnic tables as well as a large car park. On my way out I noted the Motown and Northern Soul happens here every second Saturday of the month. I was the only customer, but the landlady was still extremely friendly, even though she was using the quiet time to do some paperwork. although empty, this was one of the better pubs I found in the area.

A nice JW Lees pub. Open plan and very pleasant to sit in. To the right if the bar is a pool table and to the left is a large area that doubles up as a dining area. Sunny beer garden to the rear. 3 handpumps dispensed JW Lees Bitter and MPA plus a beer called Kaleidoscope. According to a local it has recently been refurbished.

The Jolly Carter is a raodside pub that has got a mock tudor upper half.
Once inside the pub had two rooms witha smart lounge and a decent bar,i had a drink in the bar, this room had normal table sand chairs.
The pub used to be a Wilsons tied house, but it had lots its Wilsons signs by the time i got round to doing this pub, there were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of John Smiths bitter which was on handpump, this was a very nice drink, the other beer was Websters Yorkshire bitter.
This is a pretty normal type pub but i was happy enough having a drink in it.
