The Halfway House has banquette seating areas either side of the entrance, although the right-hand side also has a dartboard. An L-shaped bar counter in the left rear corner faces the front and the largest of the seating areas in the right rear. This is a large open plan pub that was quiet during a recent late Saturday afternoon visit not that long after the City v United FA Cup final had finished. Maybe everyone went home when they put the Scottish Cup Final on the televisions. This was muted in favour of some music from the jukebox. This is a Holts pub so their usual keg was available alongside Bitter that was badged on two of the four hand pumps. This is certainly not a destination pub, but I’d use it if I lived locally.

Typically huge Holts red brick roadhouse on the junction of two busy roads. Smallish room to the left and a very large room to the right with loads of TV's showing both football and horse racing. There's also a dartboard and a friendly pub dog, plus a small beer garden to the rear. It's all nicely decorated in standard Holts style. There are some old etched windows and bell pushes in two areas. It's also on the CAMRA list of regionally important pub interiors. 4 handpumps on the bar, but only Holts Bitter available which was in very good nick and at just £2.60 per pint. It's a pleasant enough locals local.
