Corner pub, which is one of two new entrants on Mill Road in the 2023 Good Beer Guide. I arrived to find the barman seemingly getting stressed with a group of customers he was serving. He was having a right old moan, but eventually arrived to serve me, without any issues. 4 real ales were on. It was good to see a couple of dark beers on the handpulls (Titanic Plum Porter & Butcombe Winter Wonder). The other beers were Adnams Ghost Ship & Ossett Yorkshire Blonde. There was no sign of any real cider.

The front bar was fairly basically decorated, with bare wooden boards, which gave it a little character. I didn't venture much further, but did note that others were disappearing off to other rooms at the rear.

A great little high street corner pub with a single L-shaped bar as described below. There is a separate ‘billiard’ room with a bar billiard table. It’s very much a local, but a friendly one nonetheless. TV screens were showing live football, the atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were pleasant. There was a jukebox which was silent, and a small paved patio at the rear. Ales on were Rev James Rye, Doombar, Ossett Blonde, Adnams Southwold and Adnams Mosaic Pale Ale. I had the Rye, which was in excellent condition. There are also some keg beers and a craft beer, Neck Oil, plus a selection of keg and real ciders. Well worth a visit and I’d include in a crawl.

A single split level room with the bar to one side, seating includes buttoned backed leather banquettes plus regular chairs, some of the banquettes sadly ripped and needing attention. Leaded windows, a large skylight sits over the main drinking area. Decor centres around wall mounted guitars and lythes. TVs offered a choice of muted cricket or tennis from Wimbledon. There are a pair of pub spaniels who were good fun, cavorting around for treats. An old American juke box sits in a rear corner.
There is a garden to the rear with an outbuilding beyond, this contains a bar billiard table and shelves of books as well as framed photos of Typhoon fighter planes.
A few on, Adnam's Mosaic Pale Ale, Doom Bar, St Austell Liquid Sunshine, Vog Brewery Dark Matter, a blackcurrent porter, lovely, and Exmoor Silver Stallion. Keg ciders from Stowford Press and Mortimers.
A decent pub in the well endowed Mill Road area.
