As well described in the reviews below, this is a pleasant characterful Fullers pub in North Finchley. I tend to use it on a Saturday evening as it conveniently breaks my convoluted two bus and one train journey home from the Saracens Stadium in Mill Hill. At these times it’s quite lively and buzzing, especially if there is a late Saturday evening football game being shown on the telly, Which you can choose to watch either in the smart lounge side or the more public game side with its couple of pool tables and large screens. Or you can choose to ignore the sport and take your point outside onto the very pleasant front patio area under the cover of a couple of large umbrellas, as long as the weather is permitting.
Usually a decent range of Fullers ales on which sometimes includes their seasonal brew.
And as others have mentioned there is a decent Thai restaurant upstairs in what looks from the photos to be a very pleasant panelled dining area, although have to say I’ve never ventured up this far.

Dating from at least the late 19th century, this is an interwar years’ pub, once a Wenlock’s house, known as the Moss Hall Tavern until at least 1994; it also has a CAMRA heritage citation of *, photos visible on theirs and the pub’s website.
My Wednesday arrival at 9.30pm coincided with that of an enormous dog – an XL bully? – with head the size of a plucked turkey, wearing a muzzle which would do Hannibal Lecter proud, snorting like a racehorse and on passing, displaying an enormous pair of Jacobs. Customers – models? – weren’t at all like those shown on the website, certainly an older blokey lot generating quite a blue atmosphere, though there were a small number of younger drinkers on the patio. There was multi event, unwatched silent sport and a couple of men – no women in the actual pub – enjoying the pool table.
There’s cask of course, but no Dark Star option, with Pride and ESB then Salcombe Gold, £2.85 a half and dull, served by a decent barman.
You could do a lot worse in Finchley and this is a lot better than the Tally Ho; heritage value aside, this isn’t my kind of pub, though for some, it’s obviously the dog’s bol**cks.

This pub is one of the more recent additions to CAMRA's Regional Inventory of pubs with historic interiors. You can easily see the current four room layout, but there may have originally have been more rooms of course. The room on the left is my favourite, with a nice wood-framed fireplace, mostly carpeted and with excellent fielded panelling on the walls. There is a small room (a snug possibly) in the centre with just a couple of armchairs and with vestiges of screening with some glazing separating it from the other rooms. The room on the right is a bit plainer, being bare-boarded, with some fixed bench seating by the window and along the side, plus some normal tables and chairs. Behind this is a further room separated by more glazed screening, which is carpeted and contains the pool table.

It's a Fuller's pub so no real surprises on the beer front. They had on London Pride, ESB, something called Due South, and Day Dreamer (£2.15 a half). Food is Thai - a stir fry is £8.60 for meat, and £8.90 for prawn. I saw something called "Sparkling Saturday" advertised, which gives a 20% on sparkling drinks on Saturday. It probably excludes fizzy beer.

This is a rather nice pub that hasn't been overly mucked about over the years. It's definitely worth a visit as long as you're OK with Fuller's beers.
