A good walk from Edmonton Green Overground station, this pub is situated in an area of housing and to the side of a roundabout. It has two rooms connected by a long bar and is very much a locals' pub. The paucity of reviews on here would also suggest that few find their way out here. Although it does feature in the latest Good Beer Guide, which prompted my visit.
Dark Star Hophead is the regular beer here. Guests were Adnams Ghost Ship & Vale Marathon Runner. There was quite a lively atmosphere inside and bar staff were friendly and welcoming. A decent and better than expected pub, the sort that you wouldn't mind having as your local.

There were three ales on in here - Sharp's Sea Fury, GK IPA, and London Pride (£3.75 a pint). The pint of Pride I had was in superb condition, which was a very pleasant surprise indeed. There was no sign of food at Friday lunchtime.
This is an interesting pub, with much of its internal layout still discernible. You enter into a tiny vestibule, with a door to the left bringing you into what is clearly the Saloon Bar, and a door to the right taking you into the bare-boarded Public Bar. This room has a matchboard panelled bar counter, plus more matchboard panelling on the walls to dado height. There's a pool table in this room. It's been opened up to a room at the back with more matchboard panelling to three-quarter height. The dartboard's in this back room. The upper glazed part of the screening that would have separated the Public Bar and the back room is still there, featuring a rising sun of course.
The panelling that still separates the Public and Saloon bars also features rising sun themed glazing. You know that the room to the left of the vestibule is the Saloon Bar because it's carpeted, and the bar counter has the slightly more upmarket fielded panelling.
This is a comfortable and lovely pub that still has a 70s feel about it, which is no bad thing. The beer selection's alright without being anything to write home about. The pub is somewhat out of the way so is not easy to get, so I'm unlikely to pay a return visit for that reason.
