Blackthorn _ left this review about The Globe Inn

A substantial Banks’ pub on the main road out of the village, it is divided in to three areas consisting of a bar, lounge and restaurant. The bar area is pleasant enough in a slightly artificial sort of way – the old boards on the floor appeared to be laminate on closer inspection and despite an impressive stone built fire-place taking up almost the whole of one wall, all this had in it was a somewhat inconsequential electric fire and a couple of baskets of superfluous logs. To the rear of this was another area that seemed distinctly lacking in any character. It looked as though it may perhaps have been an old function room and was bereft of anything of any note other than a couple of pictures on the wall and a TV up in the corner.

In the middle of the pub is a bar billed as the lounge and this had a more contemporary feel with upright and rather formal dining chairs, and consequently didn’t have the cosy ambience that you might expect in the lounge bar of a country inn. To the right was a good sized dining room that also somewhat formal, although I didn’t check this out in any detail. Food menu was rather limited, and apart from a steak and a jug of mussels consisted solely of pizza or pasta so it may not suit everyone. Pasta dishes were mostly around the £7 mark and pizzas a pound or so more. My Meat Feast was ok, but nothing particularly memorable. Bar staff seemed friendly enough.

Beers on tap were Bank’s Bitter, Marston’s Old Empire and Jennings Cocker Hoop. The solitary cider was Strongbow, unfortunately.
