Steve C left this review about McGowan's
I popped in here on Sunday night and found a slender bar with a plasma screen at either end and a pool table to the left. There was some Irish music playing from the jukebox to the handful of locals in attendance and the very young looking barmaid seemed more interested in quizzing me about the ownership of my mobile phone that I laid on the bar for five seconds whilst I rummaged through my pockets for some beer change. I was surprised to see a real ale available (even if it was Greene King IPA), but the Guinness was undrinkable. Direction signs for the toilets are not required as the smell leads the way and I was surprised to find a chair facing the urinals, wtf!
The last time I was in here was about ten years ago and it wasn’t any better then. Hopefully someone with some nous will spot the ‘TO LET’ sign up on the wall outside and turn this place into a half decent bar, but I doubt it.
