After a brief period of closure and residential objections to a proposed takeover by the Raymond Blanc Group, this was purchased by Old Spot Pub Co., re-opening as a semi-gastro pub at the arse end of 2018. This retains the features that make this pub such a draw - the beamed ceilings, open fireplaces (fires pleasingly lit) and quarry tiles, although the bare brick walls have now been rendered over. Three ales on offer - Sharp's Doom Bar, Wye Valley HPA and Rebellion IPA (as you'd expect in these parts). £3.95 for a pint of the latter which was in good nick. There were a fair few scattered around, either enjoying a drink or a bite to eat on a post-Christmas weekday. The only bugbear was an unnecessary 80s muzak soundtrack when either silence or maybe a crooners' Christmas album might have been more apt.

The Kings Head is a very pleasant 16th Century Pub based in the village of Little Marlow, on the road between Marlow and Bourne End. Formerly three separate small cottages, I believe, that were knocked together to form one coaching Inn.
Inside the main bar area is quite small centred around the smallish serving area on the right as you enter. A lot of the period features remain, low beamed ceilings, bare brick walls and the original large fireplaces that were in each cottage.
This has been supplemented by are larger dining room to the back of the pub which seats many more people than you can get in the rest of the pub.
It’s a good place to go for a summer pint as it has a large outside garden space, to the far side of which is in the Pavilion, a separate function room which can be hired out
As for a lot of the country pubs in these parts it focuses on food and usually has a wide menu with a huge blackboard of traditional home-cooked meals to choose from.
But the primary reason to visit the Kings Head is because the small bar area supports six handpumps which dispense five beers in total, a couple of house beers (pride and TT Landlord ) supplemented by rotating guests, which were Adnams Broadside and IPA and Smuggler from the nearby Rebellion Brewery in Marlow on my recent visit last week. The Rebellion beers were in great nick, but then they don’t have far to travel..
