Street corner pub with an open plan interior running around a square island bar.Generally traditional furniture, there is a raised section to the right, and a walled beer garden down some steps. It all feels quite modern, tea lights on every table and the modern bar back is attractive. The open kitchen produces pub grub with mains around £18,although there are meal deals on certain days ,and early doors pizze and drinks offers. No screens and the bar sports two handpumps with Sambrooks Wandle and Pump House (NBSS 3) while the keg offering was very mainstream.
A bit dull and unexciting ,nothing to rush back for despite a friendly welcome from behind the bar.

This pub has recently been completely refurbished. Where once there were grotty lavatories, there's now a gastro kitchen. The interior is more baroque with dark floral print wallpaper and chandeliers. There's a grand dining room upstairs next to the new lavatories. There's also a secret garden, with of all things a work by Banksy who sneaked in here. Patrons are a mix of locals from the nearby estates as well as the well-heeled and a few tourists.

The real ale choice here is basic: By The Horns Brewing Co's The Mayor of Garratt or Mick The Miller (both off on my last visit, but otherwise very drinkable). Otherwise it's Camden Brewery or Meantime beers, premium lagers, cider and stout.

Service is very patchy indeed - sometimes there's no-one behind the bar; some of the staff give the impression that they've never worked in a pub. I'm not at all impressed with the scatalogical graffiti and phallic pornography which covers the wallpaper in the gent's lavatory; I certainly wouldn't want a child to see this and on a lesser note, the melamine tables - which look like they've come from a school cantine - could do with replacing.

Actually this isn't a bad pub, but I'd give it a much higher score if they addressed the above.
