Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rocket

One can see that this must once have been quite a grand place, but it has for a long time been a basic characterless pub with a very transient feel. Traditional interior which has been partially opened out to leave various seating areas around three sides of the bar. Sports / news TVs. All-day food offered from a standard unbranded M&B (Oaktree) menu. On the plus side, there are now five handpumps on the bar counter, with Doom Bar, Pride, Hogs Back TEA and No 18 Yard (Shepherd Neame) Rudolf's Reward (£3.55) available on this visit.

A big barn of a place that was once called The Rising Sun, but became The Friar & Firkin in 1992 and has been called The Rocket since around 1999. There's some evidence of its Victorian heyday (the pub was rebuilt in 1899), but not much.
This is essentially a banging sports bar with TVs all around, the size of king size mattresses and clients of the vocal lads in T-shirts school; multiple games machines dominate proceedings and pictorial menus display their bill of fare (basically burgers and the like).
On the plus side - and it's a very meagre plus side - ales comprise Greene King's IPA, Sharp's Doom Bar (clip reversed), Fuller's London Pride and Goddard's Ale of Wight at a very reasonable £1.85 a half, which is cheap for the area and was decent enough.

This place is everything I hate in a so-called pub and I will never return; the Somers Town Coffee House is just around the corner and is oh-so-much better.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Rocket

Quite busy on our Tuesday eve visit. There were five handpumps, with four in use. The Moorhouses White Witch was our pick of the bunch. Other beers were Pride, GK IPA, and Harviestown Bitter and Twisted. The bar and the back of the bar were the only clues really that this was once a Victorian boozer, I suppose the original windows give another glimpse into the past. Still, at least the developers didn't knock it down.
