I've used this pub a few times over the years and it has seen a few changes.

It also offers accommodation, which is usually full Monday to Thursday with travelling tradesmen. Inexpensive food is on offer during those days, and is pretty good value for money. Filled rolls are available on Saturday and very good for only £1.

A couple of real ales, ciders, selection of lagers and Guinness all well kept, plus a selection of the bottled products you will see in most pubs. Drinks prices are about on par with the rest of the area, with a couple of cheaper offers on the lower-end beers and lagers.

Good for sports with four different screens, which can be divided to cover separate events,an outdoors(although under cover) pool table.

The staff are very welcoming and attentive, tables cleared quickly when vacated, and there are a couple of pub cats who put in regular appearances!

It can certainly get loud, and is popular with visiting football supporters as it is en-route to the Wycombe Wanderers ground, although it is very quiet during weekday lunchtimes.

A 30s-style oblong boozer on the West Wycombe Road with some nice full-height wood panelling and stained glass inserts. Formerly a two roomed incarnation if the stained glass sign 'Lounge Bar' over the right-hand entrance is anything to go by, this has now predictably been opened up, but still retains a bar billiards table in its far right-hand corner, with a conservatory extension in the far-left corner, which houses a pool table. Two ales were on offer - Sharp's Doom Bar and Otter Bitter. Two attempts at the Otter produced a glass full of sea monkeys much to the barmaids' and my astonishment (all three of them crowded around the glass to peer at the bits in suspension). A switch to the Doom Bar found a surprisingly decent beer, with a nice biscuity malt finish, so fair play to them for for exceeding expectation there, even if they negated to turn the Otter clip around. On the one hand I was surprised and a little impressed with the interior (I came here a few year ago, but obviously didn;t soak in my surrounds), but the service was a little icy the clientele a little 'geezerish' and with the most expensive item on their food menu coming in at £5, it does make you wonder about the provenance.
