Blue Scrumpy left this review about The White Hart

It's hard to believe that this small town can only support a single pub. The presence of a beer festival in the town during our visit would suggest that demand is there. Nevertheless, the White Hart is the sole survivor.

The pub is situated on a slope with a couple of rooms at the front and a snug at the rear. An outdoor drinking area can be found to the left of the pub leading up to a car park accessed from a street to the rear.

This is a nice enough pub in a pleasant town, serving locals and visitors alike. But the real ale choice was distinctly ordinary. The regular beer is Landlord. The guest beer was Wainwright. If I was a local, I'd have been at the Caistor Lions Beer Festival.

The last of Caistor’s three pubs, the White Hart has retained a lot of character, with a wooden-floored public bar area along the left hand side, the serving bar to the right between a carpeted lounge area to the front right and a further room to the rear with a television being watched by several locals. The lounge was decorated in a dusky rose colour, with bottles, plates, watering cans etc on a rail around the top. Ales from three hand pulls were Tom Wood’s Lincoln Gold and Black Sheep Bitter, with the third offering Weston’s Scrumpy cider. It had a fairly friendly feel to it during our late afternoon visit, and I’d happily come again if in the area.
