Village Bateman's pub with a number of different rooms and seating areas off the main bar and a small car park adjoining the village hall to the side of the pub.
Bateman's XB, XXXB & Timothy Taylor Landlord are the regular beers here. Guests were Bateman's Hooker & Oakham Citra. The landlady seemed a bit snappy with us and drinks prices here are certainly not cheap.
The interior is nicely appointed and I certainly enjoyed my XXXB. But we didn't find this the most welcoming of pubs.

Classic Bateman's village local in a pretty village, with a possibly the best pub name in Britain. An attractive local stone exterior, leading to a front room which has been knocked through but retains a wonderful curved wood bar on the right hand side, next to a slightly too modern looking log fire. There’s a separate room behind left. Simple decor with wood floor and burnt orange shades. Six ales on the bar; 3x Bateman's, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Oakham Below Zero and Newby Wkyke HMS Quorn. My XXXB was fine, perhaps slightly barrel-end. An enjoyable stop. 7.5

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Butcher & Beast
Splendid little pub, housed in a plain but attractive building constructed from the local stone. The interior comprises a small traditional bar to one side of the main door, a lounge of similar size on the other, and another room to the rear. Recently redecorated with little in the way of memorabilia, but this is more than made up by the fine community atmosphere. Proper pub food menu. Four of the seven handpumps were operational, offering Batemans XB and XXXB (£2.90 and in top form), Everards Original and Castle Rock Harvest Pale. Overall, first class - every village should have a pub like this!
