A good looking pub on the way from the town centre to the football ground, but once inside it's nothing special, and perhaps a bit rough around the edges. There was music from a jukebox that was too loud for me. There are two rooms - the bar in front and a pool room in the back, with a separate dining room. Sorry, restaurant. There's also some outside seating, possibly worthy of the title beer garden. There were two hand pumps on the bar but no real ale, so I had John Smiths Smooth Crap. Can't see myself coming back here, except in the unlikely event they start to do real ale again.

Bucking Fastard left this review about The Horse & Jockey

A street corner boozer with some fine glazed tiles below the windows and a suntrap patio infront of the social distancing side entrance, you enter into a corridor which leads first to a carpeted pool room with some fixed bench seating then through archways to the front bar room. There is a flatscreen ,a darts board above an electric fireplace and more fitted bench seating around the perimeter with stools. There are some humerous ,bawdy small posters on the walls and what seemed very noisy muzak until the quality of the tunes improved.
It's earthy, strong language flows but in a friendly manner. The landlady is full of good cheers, chatty and welcoming. There are two handpumps but on my visit just one real ale,Pheasantry Tank Ale (NBSS 3,dull brew well kept).
Well used by regulars, folk come here to sup but lager will always be more in demand than real ale. With the Eight Jolly Brewers not yet emerging from Covid hibernation,an opportunity to grab some of their market may be being missed.

Old Boots left this review about The Horse & Jockey

A corner pub with a puzzle entrance, there are two rooms inside with a residual wall between them, seating and a pool table at one end, the counter and more traditional seating at other. Constant lowish level music and screens for music videos and no doubt some sporty stuff. Two pulls with beers from Pheasantry brewery plus a selection of national kegs. Pretty well kept and it's more a down to earth boozer than anything else.
