Rebranded October 2019 as L'Oliveto Italian Restaurant, with the former Merry Monk name used for the adjoining guesthouse only. A large and well-furnished room of tables, retaining a bar with some handpumps for the moment.

The Merry Monk is a bare brick built pub that is in the middle of Oakham.
There is a sign outside saying "real ales" this is a lie,there are no real ales here.
Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room with the bar facing,this room runs the width of the pub,the room had black floor and modern looking black seating making the room look quite dark.
There were no real ales on the bar,the keg option was John Smiths smooth crap.
I did'nt take a photo of this pub because there was a police man outside.
