The Griffin has laminate flooring throughout and there’s a neon hue from strips of LED’s, not dissimilar to my teenage daughter’s bedroom. A pool table is found to the left of the entrance and a raised area with seating and a dartboard to the right. The bar area runs up the centre where a serving counter up the left faces high tables up the right. Televisions are found throughout, muted Sky Sports football was in progress while club background music played, it was a bit much for a bank holiday Monday afternoon. Premium keg was available alongside Fosters and drink deals are heavily advertised, as are burgers which led me to believe that this is a student pub. The service was polite, but this place is not for me and I’ll be walking past next time.

Old Boots left this review about The Griffin
An old looking, long, white washed building but as so often modernised inside to one large room with a space off to the front left and right of the central entrance. The front left is occupied by a pool table while the right has a raised seating area in almost a separate room, it has a possibily unused dartboard. The main body of the pub has a mix of high and low tables and a sofa with another raised area towards the rear on the right. The counter is on the left and is a long affair fronted with off cuts of pallets, two T-Bars and five solos provide keg needs mostly from Heineken. I spotted only one machine but there’s a few screens on sport or corporate ad’s and constant music but at a fairly low volume. Toilets are upstairs. It has a garden at the back but not much to offer.

Big one room pub in the middle of town. No real ale above 4.5% ABV. Not much to show for it, I'm afraid.
