The Tree is a narrow pub, which stretches back into a smaller sub-divided room at the rear, with an outdoor area beyond that. There were 2 or handpulls on at the bar, with just one clipped. It was a Brewpoint Charlie Wells beer, but I don't recall whether it was Origin or DNA. I avoided this, instead going for the keg On Point from the same brewery.

Having looked for a local CAMRA magazine earlier in the day, I found quite a large pile here near to the entrance to the toilets. Somebody has obviously taken their time to drop a load off. But despite serving a real ale, it doesn't seem like the place that would attract many CAMRA types.

This was a fairly rough and ready place, which strangely was the only pub of the 3 next to one another on the High Street which hadn't employed bouncers.

We were soon ready to move on to Wygston's House, which was extremely busy. As such, a couple of our party (father and daughter) came back to the Tree, only to have a bloke threaten to chop their heads off. It seems like bouncers on the door could be a worthwhile exercise here, if only to filter out some of the riff-raff. This is not a pub I am likely to return to. I'll leave it to the local thugs.

Found pubs galore really helpful, so I have joined and here is my first review. Loved this pub and the great beer garden. Mixed ages, mainly young, but staff and customers friendly. Three real ales on, and this is where I will have to start taking notes. I remember it was a good pint, and that I had to have another. The food was good too.

This place is a surprise. I'd always assumed it was the same as all the other pubs on Leicester's High Street but it has some real character. Good cheap food, a lot of friendly, young bar staff [Each time I was at the bar I was asked at least three times if I was waiting, which is a pleasant change] and a good atmosphere to it. It's a younger person's place, but not exclusively so - an old git like me was still nmade to feel welcome. A few more real ales would improve the score - only had two on at time of visit.
