Holt's pub on a set of traffic lights. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. There is a range of different seating areas with quite a long bar connecting them.
The decor is all quite nice and there was a mixture of drinkers and diners early Sunday evening. Sunday roasts were advertised. The bar area has parquet flooring with tiles near the bar. It is quite brightly lit. But at the far end, is a much darker and cosier, carpeted area where I chose to sit. TVs all around had been showing the football. Dogs and children are allowed in.
Holt's Bitter & Two Hoots are the regular beers. A third beer was a collaboration between Holt's, Everard's & Hook Norton called Milestone. My Milestone was quite a nice beer.
An elderly local came and sat next to me with his dog. He'd been a regular in the pub for years and said that it had gone downhill. However, it certainly didn't seem too bad to me.

Big dining pub on the busy County road into Ormskirk. I find it friendly, comfortable and welcoming - and cosier than the typical chain dining pub. On this visit there were plenty of regulars in too. It’s owned by Holts (despite no indication of this on the pub exterior) and the Bitter and Two Hoots were available - the latter in fine form and a reasonable for Ormskirk £3.10. I like this pub and it’s probably the best in this end of town. Beware the car park camera if you’re driving though.
