High street pub with a couple of decent ales on (Lancaster Black and something seasonal from Moorhouses). The menus have shifted to microwaved chain food recently and it’s possibly a bit more laddish than it used to be, with sports TV quite prominent. That’s fine with me as this is a town where the pubs can be a bit prim and proper for my tastes. it still basically feels like an old market town pub despite Stonegate’s “changes”. There is a large beer garden and accommodation at the back. The girl behind the bar was extremely friendly and gave me a corporate loyalty card for the cask beer, not that I’ll be using it but the offer was appreciated.
