The Swan doesn't open until 3pm on Monday to Thursday. So, we had a bit of a wait for it to open.

The previous review describes the pub well. Whilst there is still only one real ale, this was Pedigree yesterday. A music channel was playing on the large screen, with a jukebox also available. But we were the only customers.

A large building for a village pub, but this is explained by it facing the old London to Dover road (still the A2 but bypassed by the M2 motorway) so no doubt the front parking area was once full of passing cars. Anyway, it's a much quieter place now, so the high ceiling in the large, L-shaped main bar make the place feel quite cavernous. However, this leaves plenty of space for karaoke and live music, which the landlord was looking forward to restarting when coronavirus restrictions are relaxed. The sound of a pool table could also be heard coming from a back room. The 1930s Tudorbethan exterior theme extends inside to faux black timberwork on the walls and ceilings too, adding to the austere feel. Just Young's Ordinary (£3.40) available from the three handpumps, but the quality was fine.

A single L-shaped bar is entered from the car park. The pub is rough and ready, but I found the locals an amiable bunch and the staff very welcoming. There are open fires, exposed structural beams and a few fake timbers to add to the effect. The bar is carpeted and entertainment is provided by tv screens, a dart board and gaming machines. There is a large function room and free wifi is available. Three ales on – I had a pint of Seasider, which was very good indeed. Worth stopping for a quick pint.
