Unlike our first 3 Kent pubs, the Sun at Bredgar was packed. We took the last space on the large car park and there were long queues at each bar. It appeared a large number of the customers had gathered for a funeral. Others were there for the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
The front bar was the most traditional and was also the quietest room. In addition, they seem to have expanded their ale range. On this occasion, Shepherd Neame Master Brew was joined by Musket Ball Puller. Some tempting looking casks at the end of the bar suggested a much wider range. But apparently they are just for show.
At the rear of the pub, there is a large patio area with plenty of tables. Many were dining alfresco here. Beyond that is a large grassy area with more tables and children's play equipment. There were also several glasses strewn around, some of them smashed. They looked as if they'd been there for a while, with nobody bothering to collect them.
A very busy pub in a pretty Kent village.

This large village pub has been extended over the years and now consists of three main areas. The main bar, occupying much of the original ground floor, is long and narrow, with an open fire at one end, wooden floors, and has an irritating gaming machine. There is an extension (known as The Old Barn) which has been converted into a fast-food dispensary; this has flag flooring and little else by way of rustic charm. The food is OK but overpriced. The back bar is a bit of wasted space which contains a pool table. Outside there is a large car park and a shelter for smokers. There is free wifi, but only one ale - Masterbrew, which wasn't at its best but was drinkable nonetheless. It's a good place to stop in for an early evening snack, is mostly a decent country pub and is comfortable enough to spend an evening having a few quiet drinks.

A great country pub, with good food and lots of outdoor tables in a spacious country setting. Quiet location, but busy with occasional live music.
